    Overview

The Financial Times, in partnership with PineBridge Investments, is hosting this half day event to gather the views and opinions from leading asset owners, managers and stakeholders on the prospects for the wider adoption of the circular economy, the implications for investment allocations, returns and opportunities looking ahead.

How the circular economy functions and the role of private capital markets

The circular economy is creating many opportunities for investors. The AUM of public equity funds investing in the circular economy jumped to $9.5bn in November 2021, a 28-fold increase since 2019. Private markets have also started to size up the opportunities.

Real estate opportunities in the circular economy

Real estate is one of the sectors that have the most to contribute to the circular economy. The UN estimates that the built environment accounts for 40% of global energy use and 30% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions. By adopting the circular economy approach, the real estate industry could address these concerns and generate an improved return on investment at the same time.
